Nowadays，children spend too much time watching TV and playing computer games. Some people believe this has negative effects on children's mental abilities. To what extent do you agree or disagree？

题目大意：

孩子沉迷电视和电玩不利于心理健康，同意反对？

思路：

观点类题目，问你同意反对。题目一般都会有一个具体的观点，对论证的内容有限制，建议站在反对的立场，题目没有明确的限定，论证空间更大，也更好写。

比如这道题，有对电视电玩的坏处有明确的限定，一是针对孩子，而是心理层面。如果选反对的话，就要提出电视电玩的好处，而好处题目是没有任何限定的，可以自由发挥。

While there has long been an assertion that children spending too much time in TV programs and video games will lead to the detriment of their mental health, I tend to disagree with this opinion in terms of the benefits to children’s acquisition of diversified knowledge and qualities.

Superficially, overindulgence in watching television and playing computer games might inflict negative influences on the next generation. It is undeniable that there do exist some obscene contents on certain TV programs and in some computer games,such as violent and erotic scenes, which might erode some young minds who are susceptible to such information. Whereas this is not the case for all TVprograms and electronic games.  

However,I would say that we do not need too much apprehension about this trend, while

considering the advantages brought in by these two kinds of entertainment. What needs to be pointed out first is the educational function of TV. Comparing with tedious lines in test books, it is those documentaries and educational animations on television that intrigue young inquiring minds, thus disseminatingthe knowledge of science, history and culture among the next generation.

Also,we should not forget that computer games also have their role to play instimulating children’s interest in learning. Had it not been for some games like Medieval Age or Civilization, many children would have been less likely to explore the history of human civilization, say, the reasons of World War II,the rise and fall of the Third Reich, the stories and anecdotes of those famous historical figures like the Lion Heart.

Inconclusion, I would reiterate that there is always a dark side of the moon,television and computer games should be recognized more as practical educationaltools and mind openers for young children rather than electronic evils.
